Who will call Him King of Kings
First off, I have to say Easter means something a little different to my family. If you know, you know, right Hunter? This line is completely unrelated to the rest of this blog.
We are an “Easter” church, one of my pastors said. Everyone goes above and beyond with their Christmas celebrations, but in reality Christmas doesn’t mean a whole lot until Easter happens. As you can see, his words really stuck with me. I mean, I’m not stupid, I KNOW what my Christian faith is based on, but every Easter I feel like we overlook the most important day of our faith! I mean, I didn’t even go to church today! I chose to be camping instead.
All day long I have thought about the sacrifice that was made for me. I’m way past trying to figure out all of the “why”s I associate with the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. There will never be an earthly explanation that I will understand as to why our world/people were created to become what we had become and could only be saved by Jesus. You can explain it to me a million times and until I meet my creator and He explains it to me, this feeble brain just ain’t gonna get it. With that being said. I DO believe. And as many do, I hope, I wonder what it would be like to have been there during Jesus’ time on earth.
This song is my favorite about Easter. When I think of Easter, my brain starts singing this song and imagining what it was like to have been left behind as the apostles were. Lost and scared. Does that even begin to describe how they felt? I imagine them just sitting in a room starting to turn on each other, because that’s what we do in crisis mode. But what joy on that 3rd day! And what great responsibility they were given!! Listen to this song! And if you can get through all of the key changes (you’re welcome, Meg) let me know what you think.
In cold despair
They'd laid Him in the tomb
The body of their Master fair
Third morning came
As they returned to pray
Light was shining everywhere
But Jesus' body was not there
And as they gazed at an empty grave
The earth around began to shake
And they were so afraid
But voices of angels filled the air
Their shouts proclaimed "He is not here"
And you could hear them say
Who will call Him King of kings
Who will call Him Lord of lords
Who will call Him Prince of Peace
Such a wonderful counselor, Mighty God
Who will call Him King
Their spirits soared
As fear was turned to joy
Standing there before their eyes
Jesus clothed in radiant white
And with a voice they'd heard before
He told me "Go and tell the world that I'm alive"
They ran as fast as feet could fly
"The Lord is risen" was their cry
And you could hear them say
We will call Him King of kings
We Will call Him Lord of lords
We will call Him Prince of Peace
Such a wonderful counselor, Mighty God
