Don’t Fight Alone

A few months ago my husband Tom and I were sitting in our camper talking and listening to music. This is out of the ordinary as he usually makes me sit through old cowboy movies on the GRIT channel. He knows I hate them, but I know he loves them….so it’s worth it. This particular day, our TV had gone kaput. Dead. Like everyone in every one of those old ass cowboy movies…lol.

So we turned on JoyFM and listened to Christian music and discussed anything that came up. We talked about things we wanted to do to the camper/campground. Talked about camping around the nation in the future. We talked about some of the songs that came on that we liked, some that we could do without. When “Don’t Fight Alone” came on by Jon Reddick, Tom said, “Every time I hear this song I think of Moses sitting in the stands with a football jersey on cheering for me.”

The line in the song is “The giants of the faith, they cheer for me”.

So of course every time I hear it now, I picture Moses in a Steelers jersey doing the wave.

We also discussed the lines in the song about “Angel Armies” and where they may be? Can anyone see them? Are they fighting a whole different war or are they fighting the same war we are fighting?

Is Moses cheering for them too? What is he wearing? Gladiator clothes? Crusades uniform? Is he bare chested with a huge cross painted on his chest and drinking a beer?

When I got home I couldn’t stop thinking about it. So I dug around on the beloved internet. Don’t worry, I confirmed my finds in the actual Bible. I found that I was confused even further and that it proves again that I am not a scholar and have no interest in being one. But I’m pretty sure that at least one person, Elisha, saw these Armies! I found the Angel Army “escorted” Satan and his followers to hell. And that they are here to fight for US! Still don’t understand HOW they are fighting for me, but my faith is pretty simple, so I believe.

I also learned that Angels were created by God. They are not human. Humans cannot become angels. They were created like we were but NOT in the image of God. They have their own personalities and minds.

So I imagine that there are 3 realms. Heaven, earth and that foggy place I can’t see in between.

This song has been on my mind a lot lately as a reminder that we DON’T fight alone. I’ve mentioned before that I’ve led a pretty easy life. Well recently we had a couple of bumps in the road. The most recent is a cancer diagnosis for Tom. Oropharyngeal Cancer that is over 90% curable with Radiation and Chemo. He’s starts treatment tomorrow and I’m nervous as hell for him. And for me.

We both know that we don’t fight alone. We know that God is the Great Healer if he chooses to heal Tom. We also accept that sometimes that’s not God’s plan. We know that Angel Armies are fighting for us and that our friends and family are praying for us. And we pray that Moses and his celestial buddies are enjoying a Snow game and are cheering Tom through til the end!

With all of this being said. Tom and I are pretty private people. It’s been difficult to share this with others. So if we haven’t told you before now, I BEG you not to text or call him. Just pray for him.

Please respect our wishes on this. And text ME with any questions.
